Beware of advice removing security tags

There seems to be alot of blogs and Youtube videos regarding removing Security Tags and Ink Tags when doing searches for information on these products. Since I am a veteran in this industry, I find the advice to be very dangerous. There are people actually suggesting using tools such as Dremals, grinders, screwdrivers and knives.

The reason that this is dangerous is that there are many styles, brands, and technologies of ink tags and security tags. So, when someone is cutting or prying into one of the tags it is impossible to know what will be encountered. Just a slip of a tool could stab or slice a hand. Pieces may fly into an eye when ground or struck with a hammer. At the minimum the item could be damaged or stained and not returnable.

It can be very frustrating when an item is purchased and you get home with a security tag or ink tag still attached to the product. It is best to return the item for tag removal, but if it is not possible to get back to the store, try get get another retailer to remove it for you. It helps if you have a receipt when going back to the store where you purchased the item or another store, but many retailers are understanding since they have screwed up and left a security tag on items themselves.

Calling a seller of security tags or inks will result in the same advice as above. They will not tell you anything, only advise to take the item back to the store.

The bottom line is not to tamper with security tags or inks tags for your safety.
